Arlington Water Polo dealt tough loss against cross town rival on Wednesday, 10/10.
In what arguably was a game to determine playoff seeds in the Inland Valley League, the Arlington boys’ water polo team fell short of its goal despite a valiant effort. The Lions lost 11-8 to our cross town rival, having tied the score 5-5 at half. Arlington, which is ranked third in Division V, came out strong and traded goals with the Bears during the first half. Strong defensive effort dictated the game. Luis Gonzalez (12) was stellar in the goal.
The last three minutes of the third quarter was the turning point as Poly, which is ranked second in Division II, pulled ahead by two goals and never looked back. Arlington (0-1 in the I.V.L. and 19-6 overall) is enjoying one of its best seasons in a decade and will play host to division opponent Temescal Canyon in a non-league game at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, 10/12.
